Helena to Missoula — 1 hour, 40 minutes
Our first stop was Missoula, home of The University of Montana Grizzlies (Griz). It's a great little town with a fun flea market on the weekends. One of the guys selling art and shirts was a bass player from Nashville who played with America. You never know who you're going to meet on the road ...

The road to Whitefish took us along Flathead Lake. It's kind of a perfect setting and, apparenty, quite a hot spot in the summer. The road is lined with cherry orchards along the lake. From Missoula, we pushed on to the Whitefish area and the Meadow Creek Resort — a nice spot with a golf course, hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms.
Missoula to Whitefish — 2 hours, 20 minutes
We held off going into Glacier National Park and decided to go into Whitefish. Great choice! What a fantastic little town with great shops, saloons and restaurants. There's a ski resort here too. Mike, who has long been on a quest to find the world's best burger may have discovered it in a Bison Patty Melt at Craggy Range Bar and Grill.
